Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us

Last Updated: July 13, 2026

Essential Dev Team ("we," "our," or "us") operates the MileTracker mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Location Data: MileTracker collects location data to track your driving trips and calculate mileage. This includes:

Motion Data: We collect motion and fitness data to detect when you start and stop driving, enabling automatic trip detection.

Background Location: Automatic trip detection uses "Always" (background) location access together with motion & fitness data, so trips can be detected and recorded even when the app is not open. You can disable automatic trip detection in the app's Settings, or revoke background location and motion access at any time in your device's Settings.

Photo Library (Add Only): If you choose to save an exported trip or map image, the App requests add-only access to your photo library so it can save the image. We never read or browse your existing photos.

Trip Information: Information you enter about your trips, including:

Account Information: If you subscribe to premium features, Apple processes your payment. We receive a subscription status but not payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the MileTracker service:

3. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage: All trip data is stored locally on your device by default. We do not have access to your local data.

iCloud Sync: Premium subscribers who enable iCloud sync will have their data stored in their personal iCloud account. This data is encrypted by Apple and accessible only to you.

We Do Not:

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for their own use. Your trip history is stored on your device or in your personal iCloud account; however, trip GPS coordinates are transmitted to Mapbox (to render static map images of your trips) and to the OpenStreetMap Overpass API (to retrieve speed-limit data), as described in Section 7. These coordinates are processed transiently to provide those features and are not used by us to identify you.

We may share information only in the following circumstances:

5. Your Rights and Choices

Location Permissions: You can control location access through your device settings. Disabling location access will prevent automatic trip tracking.

Data Deletion: You can delete all your trip data at any time through the app's Settings. Deleting the app will also remove all local data.

iCloud Data: If you use iCloud sync, you can manage or delete this data through your iCloud settings.

Export: Premium subscribers can export their data in standard formats (CSV, PDF) at any time.

6. Children's Privacy

MileTracker is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

7. Third-Party Services

MileTracker uses the following third-party services:

The Apple services above are governed by Apple's privacy policy. Coordinates sent to Mapbox and OpenStreetMap are processed transiently to provide map images and speed-limit features and are not used by us to identify you.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Contact Us

10. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to delete your personal information. Since we store data locally on your device, you have full control over your data at all times.
