Flip Profit Calculator ("we", "our", or "the app") is developed by Dumitru Bumbu. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
Data You Provide
- Inventory data — item names, purchase prices, sale prices, fees, notes, and photos you add to the app.
- Receipt images — photos you scan using the AI receipt feature. Images are processed to extract text and are not stored on our servers.
Data Collected Automatically
- Subscription status — managed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store payment information.
- Crash logs & diagnostics — Apple may collect anonymous crash data if you have opted in via your device settings.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not serve advertisements.
- We do not share or sell any data to third parties.
3. How Your Data Is Stored
All inventory data is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Your data remains under your control at all times.
4. AI Receipt Scanning
When you use the AI receipt scanning feature, the app first performs optical character recognition (OCR) on your device using Apple Vision to extract text from your receipt photos. Your receipt photos are never sent to any external server.
The extracted text is then sent to Google Gemini AI (operated by Google LLC) for structured data parsing. This text may include the following personal data:
- Store name and location
- Item names and prices
- Purchase date and totals
- Payment card last digits (if visible on the receipt)
- Receipt number
Consent required: The app asks for your explicit permission before sending any data to Google Gemini AI. You must tap "Allow AI Processing" before any receipt text is shared. You can revoke this permission at any time in the app's Settings under "AI Data Processing."
Data retention: Receipt text is sent to Google Gemini AI solely for real-time processing. It is not stored by Google beyond the duration of the API request. Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Gemini API Terms of Service.
5. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services. Each provider's privacy policy governs how they handle data shared with their service:
- Apple StoreKit — handles subscriptions and payments. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Apple CloudKit (iCloud) — syncs your data across your devices. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini AI — processes receipt OCR text (not images) for structured data extraction. Explicit user consent is required before any data is sent. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- eBay Finding API — used for marketplace price research. Only search keywords are sent; no personal data is shared. See eBay's Privacy Policy.
6. Children's Privacy
Flip Profit Calculator is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account, you have full control. You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the app or clearing its data in your device settings.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
