Privacy Policy

Summary: Your projects, measurements, quotes and customer details are stored on your device, and with Pro they can also sync through your own iCloud account. We never receive them. The app does send anonymous usage statistics so we can see which features matter and catch crashes, and you can switch that off in Settings › Privacy. There are no ads, no trackers and no account to create.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how AreaCalc Pro Sq FT ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Information We Do Not Collect
AreaCalc Pro Sq FT is designed with privacy in mind. We never collect, store or transmit any of the following:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, postal address)
- Background or continuous location tracking
- Your IP address. Our servers do not store it or use it.
- Advertising identifier (IDFA) or vendor identifier (IDFV)
- Receipts, transaction identifiers or the prices you paid
- Project data you enter: project names, measurements, quotes, customer names, job addresses, client phone numbers and emails, or job notes
- Any other personal or sensitive information
The one thing the app does send is anonymous usage statistics, described in the next section. You can turn them off.
Anonymous Usage Statistics
To improve the app, AreaCalc Pro Sq FT sends anonymous usage information: a random installation identifier that is not linked to your identity or Apple Account; your device model and iOS version; the app version and build; your device's time zone, region and language; accessibility settings in use, such as VoiceOver or Larger Text; when sessions start and end and the last screen viewed; which features you use, for example a project created, a section measured, a project duplicated, pinned or deleted, an export completed, or a change of unit or theme; paywall views and taps; purchase, trial and restore events, meaning the plan and its status only; App Store review prompts; and crash and performance diagnostics provided by Apple through MetricKit.
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, postal address, location, IP address, advertising identifier, vendor identifier, receipts, transaction identifiers, prices paid, or anything you enter in the app, including project names, job addresses, client contacts, measurements and quotes.
- Not linked to you, not used for tracking: the installation identifier is random, exists only in this app, and is deleted when you delete the app. We never combine it with data from other apps or companies.
- Not shared or sold: we do not share this data with third parties and we do not use it for advertising.
- Where it is stored: on a database operated for us by our hosting provider, Supabase, accessible only to us.
- How long: usage records are deleted automatically after 13 months, and crash diagnostics after 6 months.
- Turn it off: Settings › Privacy › Share Usage Data. When it is off, nothing is collected or sent, and anything not yet sent is deleted from your device.
- Delete what was sent: copy your Installation ID from Settings › Privacy and email it to us. We will delete every record linked to it.
Data Storage
Everything you create in the app, including:
- Project names, sections, measurements and shapes
- Pricing information
- Customer name, job address, client phone and email, and job notes
- Your business details (Settings › Your Business)
- App settings and preferences
is stored on your device. We never receive it, and it is never uploaded to our servers. If you use Pro's iCloud Sync, your projects are also kept in your own iCloud account, as described below. The only information that leaves your device for us is the anonymous usage statistics described above, and only while that setting is on. Measuring, saving and exporting all work with no internet connection.
iCloud Sync (Pro)
With Pro, your projects stay in step across your iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud account.
- On by default for Pro. You can turn it off or on any time in Settings › iCloud & Backup › iCloud Sync.
- Your iCloud, not our servers. Sync uses Apple's iCloud key-value storage in your own iCloud account. The data is stored and protected by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and we cannot access it.
- What syncs: your projects, including customer details and notes, and the project-numbering counter. Your business details and app settings stay on each device.
- Deleting a project while sync is on removes it from all your devices.
- Turning sync off stops syncing and keeps the copy already in iCloud. To delete that copy, use Remove Projects from iCloud… in Settings › iCloud & Backup. The projects on your device are kept.
- Changing Apple Account: if the device signs in to a different Apple Account, sync pauses and asks before adding your projects to the new account.
- If you are not signed in to iCloud, nothing syncs and everything stays on the device.
Backups and Exports
- Backups (Pro). Back Up Projects… saves a backup file wherever you choose, such as Files or iCloud Drive. Import Backup… adds the projects from such a file and never overwrites the ones you already have.
- Exports (Pro). A PDF estimate, which includes your business details, and a CSV file. Both contain your sections, totals and pricing, plus any customer details and notes in the project.
- Backups and exports go only where you send or save them. They never pass through our servers.
Third-Party Services
AreaCalc Pro Sq FT contains no advertising, no advertising SDK and no cross-app tracking. It uses our own analytics, not a third-party analytics service.
- Supabase hosts our anonymous usage statistics on our behalf, as described above. It does not use the data for its own purposes.
Four further features reach the network, and all four talk only to Apple:
- In-app purchases. Pro is sold through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details, name or Apple Account.
- iCloud Sync (Pro). Described under iCloud Sync above.
- Filling in a job address. Described under Location below.
- The update check. On launch, at most once a day, the app asks Apple's public App Store lookup service whether a newer version exists. The request contains only the app's identifier — nothing about you or your projects.
Location
With Pro, in a project's Project Details you can tap the location button next to the job address. The app then asks iOS once for a one-time location, converts it into a street address, and writes that address into the project.
- Location is requested only when you tap that button — never in the background, and never continuously.
- The coordinates are sent to Apple's geocoding service to be turned into an address. That request is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
- The resulting address is saved in your project (and synced through your iCloud if iCloud Sync is on). It is not sent to us, and we never store or receive your coordinates.
- Directions opens the job address in Apple Maps.
- You can decline the permission, or revoke it later in iOS Settings, and every other feature keeps working.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade or rent data to anyone. The anonymous usage statistics stay with us and with Supabase, who store them for us. We may disclose information if the law requires it. When you export, share or back up, the file goes directly from your device to the destination you choose, such as email or messages, and never passes through our servers.
Data Security
Your project data is protected by your device's built-in security features. We recommend:
- Using a device passcode or biometric lock
- Keeping your device's operating system updated
- Using iCloud Sync or Back Up Projects… (Pro) to keep a copy of important projects
Children's Privacy
AreaCalc Pro Sq FT does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The anonymous usage statistics contain no personal information and are never used to identify anyone. The app is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Your Rights
We hold no personal data about you, so there is no personal profile to access or correct. You remain in control of everything the app does hold:
- Turn off usage statistics in Settings › Privacy › Share Usage Data.
- Delete usage statistics already sent by emailing us the Installation ID shown in Settings › Privacy.
- Delete your project data in the app at any time, or by deleting the app, which removes everything stored on your device.
- Delete your iCloud copy. Deleting the app does not remove projects already synced to your iCloud. Use Remove Projects from iCloud… in Settings › iCloud & Backup first if you want that copy gone too.
