This policy explains how PULSE ("the app", "we"), developed by Essential Dev Team, handles information. Our App Store privacy label lists Product Interaction, Purchase History, Crash Data and Performance Data — each used for analytics only, not linked to you and not used for tracking.
What the app stores on your iPhone #
- Your choices — intensity, speed, auto-off timer, the last mode you used and your appearance setting.
- Custom modes you create (name and rhythm).
- A count of completed sessions, used only once to ask whether you'd like to rate the app.
These are saved in the app's private storage on your iPhone. They are never sent to us — the custom mode names you type are never included in usage statistics. They are included in your normal iCloud or computer backup of the phone, and they are removed when you delete the app.
Vibration #
Massage patterns are played on your iPhone's Taptic Engine using Apple's Core Haptics. PULSE does not use the camera, microphone, location, motion sensors, contacts or health data, and asks for no permissions.
The only network connections the app makes #
| Destination | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Apple App Store (StoreKit) | When you view plans, buy, or restore purchases | Handled entirely by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We never receive your payment details. |
| itunes.apple.com (App Store lookup) | Once when the app opens | The app's bundle identifier only, to check whether a newer version is available. Nothing that identifies you. |
| Our analytics server (Essential Dev Team, hosted on Supabase) | In small batches, usually when you leave the app — only while Share Usage Data is on | The anonymous usage statistics described below. |
Nothing is sold, shared with advertisers or sent to any other third party.
Anonymous usage statistics #
From version 1.0.1, PULSE sends anonymous usage statistics so we can see what works and fix what doesn't. They are tied to a random installation ID created by the app — not to your name, Apple Account or device. What is sent:
- Device and app basics — iPhone model, iOS version, app version, language, region and time zone.
- Accessibility settings in use — for example larger text or Reduce Motion — so we can make the app work better with them.
- Sessions — when the app is opened and closed, and the last screen you were on.
- Massage sessions — the built-in mode (or simply "custom"), its tab, the intensity, the timer, how long it ran and how it ended. Never a custom mode's name.
- Custom modes — that one was saved, and its base rhythm type (Steady, Ramp, Double or Random).
- Appearance — whether you chose System, Light or Dark.
- PULSE Pro — paywall views and which plan was tapped; trial starts, purchases, plan changes, cancellations, renewal lapses, refunds and restores, as reported by Apple. No prices paid, receipts or transaction IDs.
- Review prompt — that the app asked whether you'd like to rate it.
- Crash and performance reports from Apple's MetricKit.
We keep usage statistics for 13 months and crash and performance reports for 6 months, then delete them.
Turning it off: Settings › Privacy › Share Usage Data. When it's off, nothing is collected or sent, and anything waiting on your iPhone is deleted.
What we never collect #
We never collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, advertising identifier (IDFA), vendor identifier (IDFV), prices paid, receipts or transaction IDs, or anything you type or create in the app. Your IP address is not stored or used. The app contains no third-party SDKs and no advertising, and no data is used for tracking.
Children #
PULSE is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information that identifies anyone.
Your rights and deleting your data #
To have your usage statistics deleted, copy your Installation ID from Settings › Privacy (tap it to copy) and email it to us — we'll delete everything tied to it. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone and ends collection; a reinstall starts a new, unrelated ID.
Changes #
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. If what the app collects changes, this page and our App Store privacy label will say so before that version is released.
