Terms of Use

Last updated: September 13, 2026

These terms apply to the QUIET Ai iPhone app ("the app") provided by Essential Dev Team ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to them. The app is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; where the two conflict, these terms apply to our relationship with you and Apple's terms apply to your relationship with Apple.

1. License

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store usage rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or redistribute the app except as permitted by law or by open-source licenses that apply to its components.

2. AI-generated content

The app runs third-party language models on your device. Their output is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, offensive, or otherwise unsuitable. It is not advice of any kind — not medical, legal, financial, or safety advice — and you should not rely on it without independent verification. You are responsible for how you use the output. The models are unfiltered, which is why the app is rated 17+.

3. Third-party models and licenses

Models are downloaded from third-party publishers and are licensed to you by those publishers under their own terms (for example Apache 2.0, MIT, the Gemma Terms of Use, or the Llama Community License). The applicable license is shown in the app before you download a model, and some require you to acknowledge it. We do not own, modify, or relicense the models and make no warranty about them. Hugging Face hosts the files under its own terms.

4. In-app purchases

QUIET Ai Pro unlocks any number of downloaded models, importing models from Hugging Face, and scheduled backups to iCloud Drive, on devices signed in with your Apple ID (Family Sharing applies). It is sold three ways, all processed by Apple:

Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies. Free-tier limits (one downloaded model at a time) may change in future versions.

5. Your content

Everything you type, attach, and generate stays on your device and remains yours. We never receive it. You are responsible for backing it up; see the privacy policy for how backups work. If you forget the passphrase of an encrypted backup, it cannot be recovered.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the app or its models to break the law, to harm others, or in violation of the model publishers' acceptable-use terms. Because the app has no server, we have no ability to monitor or moderate use, and we do not.

7. Device resources

Running language models uses significant memory, storage, battery, and can warm the device. The app estimates fit and speed for your device and protects itself against memory pressure, but performance varies and the estimates are not guarantees. Model files can be several gigabytes; you are responsible for the data usage of downloads.

8. Disclaimer of warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that any model will run on your device.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Essential Dev Team is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the app or of AI-generated content. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Open-source software

The app includes llama.cpp (MIT License, © the ggml authors). License texts are available in the app under Settings › About › Open-source licenses.

11. Changes and termination

We may update the app and these terms; the current terms are always published here. Continued use after a change means you accept it. You can stop using the app and delete it at any time; because nothing is stored with us, deletion is complete.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer law in your country provides otherwise.
