Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
This policy explains how QUIET Ai ("the app", "we"), developed by Essential Dev Team, handles information. Our App Store privacy label lists Usage Data and Diagnostics, not linked to you. These are collected only if you turn on Share anonymous usage, starting with version 1.3. With it off — the default — nothing is collected.
What the app does with your information
Everything happens on your device:
- Your messages and the AI's replies are processed by a language model running on your iPhone's processor and stored in the app's private storage on the phone. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
- Photos you attach (for vision-capable models) are resized and stored in the app's storage on your phone only.
- Device information (chip, memory, free storage, thermal state) is read locally to recommend models that fit. It is displayed to you and not sent anywhere.
- Settings and preferences are stored on your phone.
The only network connections the app makes
The app routes every request through a single allow-list. These are the only destinations it can reach:
| Destination | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
huggingface.co and its CDN | When you tap Download on a model, or paste a public Hugging Face repository to import | A standard file request. No identifier, account, or chat content. Hugging Face may log the request like any web server; see Hugging Face's privacy policy. |
raw.githubusercontent.com | Only when you tap "Check for new models" | A request for the model catalog file. Nothing about you. |
gqtdmumahcoputhmzkar.supabase.co | Only if you turn on Share anonymous usage (Settings › Privacy) | Anonymous usage counts and crash reports, described below. Never your messages, replies, documents, notes, photos, or anything you type. |
| Apple App Store / iTunes | Purchases, restores, and an on-launch check for a newer app version | Handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. |
Settings › Privacy › Network activity shows the number of open connections at any time. After your models are downloaded, the app works fully in airplane mode.
Optional anonymous usage data (off by default)
From version 1.3 you can turn on Share anonymous usage in Settings › Privacy. Nothing is collected until you do, and turning it off stops collection immediately and deletes anything not yet sent.
When it is on, the app sends:
- a random installation ID created by the app (not linked to your Apple Account, name, email or any advertising identifier; it is deleted if you delete the app);
- device model, iOS and app version, language, region and time zone;
- when sessions start and end, and which screen was last open;
- counts of what was used — for example "a reply finished on a Qwen model at 20 tokens per second", "a PDF with 12 pages was added", "@calendar was used";
- subscription events from Apple (trial started, purchased, cancelled) without prices, receipts or transaction IDs;
- crash and performance reports from Apple's MetricKit.
It never sends your messages, the AI's replies, document contents or names, chat titles, notes, "About you" text, photos, calendar or reminder contents, your IP address (it is not stored), location, or any advertising identifier. The data is stored with Supabase on our own project, used only to improve the app, never sold or shared, and deleted after 13 months. To have it deleted sooner, email essentialdevteam@gmail.com with the installation ID shown in Settings › Privacy.
Backups
- iPhone backup: your chats are included in your normal iCloud or computer backup of the phone, unless you turn off "Include chats in iPhone backup". Model files are never included.
- iCloud Drive backup (optional, off by default): if you turn it on, the app writes a backup file to your own iCloud Drive, under your Apple ID. We have no access to it. You can encrypt manual backup files with a passphrase; we cannot recover a forgotten passphrase.
- Export: chats can be exported as Markdown, JSON, or a backup file through the iOS share sheet, to a destination you choose.
Security
Chats are protected by iOS data protection and are inaccessible until the phone is unlocked after restart. You can require Face ID or your passcode to open the app, and the app blurs its contents in the app switcher. Deleting a chat or a model removes it from the app's storage; the app has no copy anywhere else.
Third-party AI models
The models you download are published by third parties (Google, Alibaba, DeepSeek, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral AI, Hugging Face) under their own licenses, shown in the app before download. They run entirely on your device. Their output is generated locally and is not reviewed by us or by the model publishers.
Children
The app is rated 17+ because the AI models are unfiltered and can produce content unsuitable for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
In-app purchases
QUIET Ai Pro (monthly or yearly subscription) and Lifetime (one-time purchase) are processed by Apple. We receive no payment details or personal information from the transaction. Purchase status is verified on your device with Apple's StoreKit. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period; manage them in your Apple Account settings.
Your rights
Your chats and documents exist only on your device: delete them from Settings › Danger zone, or delete the app. If you turned on Share anonymous usage, you can ask us to access or delete that data by emailing essentialdevteam@gmail.com with your installation ID. Under GDPR, CCPA and similar laws you retain all your rights.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date. Any change to what the app collects comes with a new version of the app and an updated App Store privacy label.
