Summary: Rollwipe works entirely on your device. Your photos never leave your device, we don't collect any personal data, and there are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.
Introduction
Essential Dev Team ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application Rollwipe: Camera Roll Cleaner (the "App").
Information We Don't Collect
Rollwipe is designed with privacy at its core. We want to be completely transparent:
- Photos: Your photos are processed entirely on your device. We never upload, transmit, or access your photos on any server.
- Personal Information: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifiers through the App. There are no accounts.
- Usage Data: We do not track how you use the App, which photos you view, or any behavioral data. The App contains no analytics, advertising or tracking.
- Location: Rollwipe never asks for your device's location. It reads the location saved in your photos only to show it in Photo Info, to let you edit or remove it (Pro), and to look up a place name as described below. We never collect it.
Photo Library Access
Rollwipe requires access to your photo library to function. This permission is used only to:
- Show your photos so you can keep, favorite, skip or delete them
- Mark photos as favorites in your device's Photos app
- Delete the photos you choose. iOS asks you to confirm every deletion, and deleted items go to the Photos app's Recently Deleted album, where they stay for up to 30 days
- Run Free Up Space: read file sizes to find your largest photos and videos, and create image fingerprints on your device to find exact copies and similar photos. These fingerprints never leave your device
- Remove Location & Metadata: save a new copy of a photo without its location, capture date, camera and lens details or maker notes. The original photo is unchanged
- Edit metadata (Pro): save a copy of a photo with a changed capture date or location
- Shrink (Pro): save a smaller copy of a Live Photo (as a still) or a video. The original goes to Rollwipe's Trash for you to confirm
- Add to Album (Pro): add photos to albums in your library
- Private Vault (Pro): hide photos using the Photos app's Hidden album. Face ID is handled by iOS; Rollwipe never receives your biometric data
Photos may download iCloud copies of your own photos so they can be shown. All photo processing happens locally on your device. Your photos are never transmitted to our servers; we don't have any.
Data Storage
The App stores minimal data locally on your device using iOS's standard storage mechanisms:
- Your preferences and settings
- IDs of photos you've reviewed (to show progress)
- IDs of photos in your trash queue
- Statistics like total photos deleted, and your daily streak
- Statistics, your streak and a small thumbnail of today's On This Day photo, shared with Rollwipe's Home Screen widgets. These stay on your device
Photo IDs are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
Purchases
Rollwipe Pro is an optional subscription sold through Apple. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your name, Apple ID or payment details. The App checks your subscription status with Apple's StoreKit.
Network Use
Rollwipe has no servers of its own. It contacts Apple to check your Rollwipe Pro subscription, and when you open Photo Info for a photo that has a location, it asks Apple's map service for the place name. Only that photo's coordinates are sent, and we never receive them. Photos may also download iCloud copies of your own photos to show them. The App Store opens only when you choose to rate or share the App.
Third-Party Services
Rollwipe does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not share any information with third parties because we don't collect any information to share.
Children's Privacy
Rollwipe does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. The App does not collect personal information from any users.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, modify, or delete. Your photos and app data remain entirely under your control on your device.
You can revoke photo library access at any time through your device's Settings app.
