Please read this first
Knowing is not a medical device and is not a form of birth control. Do not use it to prevent pregnancy, and do not use it in place of advice from a doctor, midwife or other qualified clinician.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Knowing app and widget ("the app"), provided by Essential Dev Team ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to these Terms. The app is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"); these Terms add to it. If the two conflict, the Standard EULA applies.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the app.

2. Not medical advice

3. Not contraception

The app is not cleared or approved by the FDA or any other regulator as a contraceptive or fertility-awareness method. No day of the cycle shown in the app is guaranteed to be safe from pregnancy. If you choose the "Avoiding pregnancy" goal, use a reliable method of birth control every time and talk to a clinician about which method is right for you.

4. Your data and your responsibilities

Your data is stored on your device, and in your own iCloud account if you enable sync, as described in the Privacy Policy. We cannot recover data that is lost, deleted, or held on a device you no longer have. You are responsible for keeping your device secure and for making backups. Backup files exported from the app are not encrypted; you are responsible for where you store and share them.

5. Subscriptions and purchases

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to reverse-engineer, copy, resell or redistribute the app, except as the Standard EULA or applicable law allows, and not to use it for any unlawful purpose.

7. Third-party services

The app works with Apple Health, iCloud, Apple Intelligence and the App Store. Those services are provided by Apple under Apple's own terms. Links to studies and public health websites are provided for reference; we don't control that content.

8. Intellectual property

The app, its design and its content, excluding cited third-party research, belong to Essential Dev Team. Cited studies and guidelines remain the property of their authors and publishers.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Essential Dev Team is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any unplanned pregnancy, missed diagnosis, health outcome, or loss of data arising from your use of or reliance on the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. The current version is always published on this page with its date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise.
